South East Water Update (28 September 2023)

Good afternoon

Following our recent public meeting in Leeds earlier this month, we’re pleased to say that we have now successfully laid all the new water main. We were able to find a route beneath the road which safely avoided other utilities, allowing us to directionally drill the new water main, rather than having to excavate a trench.

As the main has all been laid earlier than planned, we have now reviewed our programme for the remaining work. The closure of Forge Lane will take place from Monday 16 October for approximately two weeks, instead of January 2024 as originally scheduled. Letters are being sent to all residents to advise of this.

It is our intention to lift all other road closures, including Upper Street, when we start work in Forge Lane. We are working hard to ensure this becomes possible, so that only Forge Lane will be closed, with a local diversion in place.

Once this work is complete, we will look to return all excavations to their original condition and leave the site completely by early November.
